Staff at Ford Aerospace have been honoured at a special celebration event. The event, held at Ristorante Bravi in South Shields recognised team members who have 20 or more years’ service with the Precision Shim and Machined Aerospace Component Manufacturer.
Attended by 18 staff who collectively have over a staggering 500 years collective experience, in roles ranging from engineering and operations to despatch and customer service, it was a joyous occasion.
Operations manager Karl Dambers said: “I know first-hand how special this business is, as I originally joined Ford in 2001 as an CNC programme / setter, progressing to a manufacturing engineer. I then worked overseas before returning as operations manager in 2015.
“It sounds like a cliché, but it really is an amazing place to work. Everyone is genuinely proud of the work we do, and it shows in the products we make.”
Speaking at the event, general manager Mike Eggleston said: “This event is one of the highlights of our annual calendar, as it gives us an opportunity to formally thank you all for your commitment to the business.
“Looking around the room it is staggering to comprehend how many years of knowledge and experience across so many disciplines is represented here. Each and every one of you play a part in helping us continue to go from strength to strength. It is evident in so many ways from the quality and calibre of our products to the way other employees are prospering as they in turn progress on their own career paths. It really is fantastic to see the teams work together and how the company has progressed as a result, and so on behalf of the senior leadership team I would like to formally say ‘thank you’ and here is to many more years’ service.”
Specialising in low volume, high quality products for the aerospace and other hi-tech industries, such as astronautical, defence, marine and nuclear sectors Ford Aerospace employs 95 staff including 12 apprentices.
