FAQs

Shims play a crucial role in a number of industries. They are used to fill gaps, align parts and maintain strict tolerances.

Laminated shims are made up of multiple layers that can be peeled to achieve an exact thickness. Ideal for industries where tolerance adjustments are required to achieve a precise fit.

Laminated shims are ideal for aerospace and automotive applications such as rotors and hydraulic controls, as they offer several benefits including reduced assembly time, lower costs and increased precision and dimensional accuracy.

A hybrid shim combined the benefits of both solid and peelable shims. It includes a solid section, which is typically equal to minimum clearance, this is bonded to a peelable shim which provides the adjustment. Find out more about our expertise in this area and Easipeel range.

An edge bonded shim is an assembly of individual uniform or multiple thickness shims. They are bonded at specific points on the periphery with resin or soldier bonded. Providing rigidity, several layers may be removed at once, which can provide economies of scale on higher volume applications.

All our Laminate Material is manufactured in house. It can be supplied in sheet form or to bespoke customer drawings.
